Survival in Lung Cancer in the Nordic Countries Through A Half Century

A new study shows that the percentage of adenocarcinoma (lung cancer in non-smokers) has increased continuously between 1971 and 2020, and in 2021 in Sweden, adenocarcinoma accounted for 55% of all lung cancer cases. One-year survival doubled and five-year survival tripled. The improvement in survival was slow until about the year 2000, when all survival measures improved and continued to improve for the rest of the study period.
